ENVISAT Toolboxes

(ECTS: 3; SWS: 2)

Lecturers

Dr.-Ing. Karin Hedman
prerequisites   Earth System Science, Introduction to Remote Sensing
contents   The lecture will give an introduction to the ENVISAT mission, where we will focus on the scientific mission and the instruments carried on board. The ENVISAT instruments and some of their applications within Earth System Science will be introduced. The lecture include tutorials on AATSR data, ASAR data and SCHIAMACHY data. Further the students shall do a project with ENVISAT data on a scientific topic. During this project the student shall also test the performance of some of the ENVISAT free for downloading toolboxes by using sample ENVISAT data. The results shall be presented in a report and discussed during oral presentations.
objectives   to understand the principles of ENVISAT instruments and to be able to work with ENVISAT data
